Hello...

I have a Nortron electric furnace (forced air), approx. 20 yrs old, replaced old thermostat, lever mercury switch with new noma digital thermostat, only have red and white wires(heating and cooling) so hooking up new thermo was easy(red to R and white to W), after setting the time it started working for approx. 24 hrs, then it shut off on schedule and never came back on, even when I manually tried to put temp in, so I tested the wires by connecting red to white at thermo and nothing then tested at the furnace and nothing so it seems it is the furnace but I can manually turn the fan and ventilation switches on the furnace and they work... any help would be appreciated!!

These items run on high voltage,, could be that you have possibly blown the transformer,, most and sometimes all the control /start-up switches (like the tstat) are to be controlled by low voltage from the transformer, check out transformer with meter for 24-27 volts coming out of transformer

Anytime replacing a tstat you should kill all power at the breaker box

Good luck

OK I tested the transformer and the wires at the thermostat as well as the control panel on the furnace and they were all between 24 an 27 volts... also the furnace came on the evening I originally posted but after its cycle it hasn't came back on... could it be the elements or relay?
Thanks for reply and appreciate any more help!!

Just to add... I can hear a click like it is trying to come on(at furnace) and can see at least one element coming on then off... but the motor and fan do not come on... but the fan comes on when ventilation and/or continuous switches are turned on... thanks!!
