A real number is any normal number, either positive or negative, whole number or decimal, whether recurring, terminating or not.
A complex number consists of two parts, a real part, which is a real number, and an imaginary part, which is a real number multiplied by "i". "i" has the property that "i" x "i" = -1.
Real numbers are represented by points on a number line, while complex numbers are represented by points on a 2D plane, the real part on the horizontal axis, and the imaginary part on the vertical axes.
