I have a ceiling fan/light fixture that only has an on/off wall switch and a lost remote. When the wall switch is on, both the fan and lights are on. So, I can't turn off the fan and keep the lights on or vice versa.

I bought a universal remote that says "works on all fans." Well the remote has 4 code switches (the up down things) while the receiver in the fan has 5 code switches.

I tried with all of them up and all of them down to see if maybe that would work. It didn't.

The fan came with this house that was built in 2001. I can't figure out what kind of fan it is but I got this off the receiver part: 7063-09A 4/300 5+5/250 Nov 2001.

Not sure if any of that helps, but really all I seem to need is a remote with 5 code switches. Anyone have any idea where to get one?

As I mentioned, I can't figure out the make/brand. It is not labeled anywhere. Does it matter though? All I need is a remote with 5 code switch things.

Then you need to buy a replacement with both the remote and the receiver all in one kit. Try HD

The best place to get parts is the manufacturer.

Otherwise I'd try CeilingFanParts.com Home (http://www.ceilingfanparts.com) and Ceiling Fans parts & repairs online (http://www.efanparts.com)
