What are the necessary steps for me to do in order to format my PC? :)

Thanks

Click Start
Click Shutdown
Click Restart
Job done.
A reboot is basically turning the power off and on again
Now I'm sure that isn't what you had in mind, I think what you meant was reinstall or rebuild, i.e. wipe it clean and start over.
I'm I on the right track here ?

Yea, my bad after I posted I realized that I wasn't using the right word . Yess that's what I want to do. We have windows xp and my PC is a Compaq presario pentium 4. I don't have a repair disk or what ever you call it.. unfortunetly.. so...

Well if you don't have a Compaq system restore disc how where you thinking or reinstall XP ?
Do you have an original legal XP cd ?

A bootleg CD will NOT be a valid course of action, as soon as you go online to update Micro$oft will disable you install.
Your only course of action is to get a legal XP CD
