Hi all will give you a little background

K, moved, house looks fantastic, very happy. The downstairs bathroom has a wee bit of a musty smell. No problem the guy is coming back to look at it. Few days go by the smell is horrendous! Close the bathroom door downstairs and don't use it. Never used the new shower in there yet either. K, so upstairs toilet works fine, other than when you flush you hear gurgling in the sink and tub and a splash of water comes out of the sink as if it is errupting.. :shock:


Washer and dryer are hooked up on the second floor, great idea and they work great, that is until the 4th time washing. All of a sudden the kitchen sink overflows when the washer is draining and the shower starts gurggling. And out of the shower floor drain comes raw sewage and toilet paper!! Holy Crap is right! My parents are sooo upset, guy won't return phone calls and I tried a different approach with him tonight, being nice and hoping he will come and fix it. He has yet to call back. We are out of money and don't know what to do... Are there any plummers out there that could help with ideas... Can't go on for much longer... Thanks so much for any suggestions or help.

You have a drain clog downstream of most of your fixtures. The sewage will back up through the lowest fixture in that line. Look for a clean out but do not open it right away. Cleanout with Threaded Plug, 4" # 71640 by Genova Products (http://plumbing.hardwarestore.com/52-333-pvc-plugs-and-caps/cleanout-with-threaded-plug-259259.aspx) UYou never know for sure if the clog is down stream of the clean out or up stream. I usually drill a 1/8" hole in the clean out cap and have a 1/8" self tapping screw ready in case water squirts out, then install the screw and find a higher access point. Let me know if no clean out if found.

Thanks so much for your help. Found out today company that did siding covered over the outside air vent, or as some call it the stink pipe. Could this be our problem. We are waiting for a call back from the company will keep you updated. Thanks so much for your quick response, much appreciated

Agree with Balenberg1: Call Roto Rooter to snake your main sewer line or it will get worse. You have clogged main sewer pipe. That "stinky" pipe outside need cover. If you leave it open, dirt will fall in and will cause the main sewer to back up again.
