Any help would be appreciated here.

We live in a 'typical' three bed semi with bathroom and en suite and we're getting a recurring stale smell in both.What I've noticed over the last few days is that first thing in the morning there's no smell but as soon as the taps in the bathroom have been used the smell comes into the en suite and obviously then into the bedroom.

It also work's in reverse,in that if the shower in the en suite is used the small comes into the bathroom. We've tried all the usual drain cleaner products which seem to work for a couple of days but then the small returns.

It's very difficult to pin point though.If I sniff at either the sink or bath drains or the shower drain,the smell does not appear to come from any particular one or other.

Any ideas?

Rotting hair and grease make up most tub/shower and lavatory smells. Try this. Get a few gallons of bleach and tonight pour 1/2 gallon down each smelly drain. Let it set over night. Next morning flush the drains out with a few large pans of boiling water This is important. The bleach will make the hair slippery and began to dissolve and the boiling water will melt the grease and flush the mess away.

Now for that stinky lavatory/vanity drain. The first thing you should do is pull the stopper and shine a light down the drain. You will see a small rod down there. Hair can catch and build up on this rod and impede the flow. Take and hook any hair that may be down there.. Afterward flush the drain with hot water and bleach.

Excellent,thanks Speedball. I poured the bleach down the drains this morning before I left for work so I'll do the boiling water when I get home tonight.Hopefully it'll work,if not I'll be back !
