I'm on a diet and I was on a 300 calorie diet and that was wayy to low... so I was wondering I want to lose up to 50 pounds... what should be my calorie intake for a day... also what should I eat... I go to the gym about 3 times a week I'm trying to go more though.

How many calories you should eat depends on a number of factors. Age. Weight. What sort of exercise you do. For example, a growing teenage boy who goes to football practice everyday is going to need more calories than an older woman who takes a nice walk in the morning. You might be able to get a general idea of how many calories you should be eating but to lose that much weight it's probably best to talk with your dr or a nutritionist to make sure you're doing it safely. As you seem to have noticed, a 300 calorie diet is NOT a safe way to lose weight.

1500/day is a good starting point. Then adjust that for your activity level. More activity = more calories.

Never go below 1200 without consulting a DOCTOR (not the internet and not some meathead at the gym)

Hi,
Check out this calories per day calculator... Link below. Eat to be healthy. It's best to eat several small meals throughout the day. Some protein at each meal. Avoid sugar. Always eat breakfast!

The best diet I have been on is the one where I eat what I like (in moderation of course) and I stop eating at 4:00 or 4:30. The first 3 days are killerzzzz but your body gets used to it and you can lose weight fast and not deprive yourself of the goodies. :)

I agree with most of your advice summer, but I wonder about stopping eating at 4 or 4 30. That seems very early. I can see it easily being a problem for some people, depending on their schedules. For example, I work every night until at least 10. So if I didn't eat after 4 or 4 30, I would be starving myself. And starving yourself ultimately slows your metabolism. So consider your daily routine when planning meal times.

Hi,
I agree it's not for everyone. It works for me. I eat all my favorite things throughout the day. I'm not a picky eater L:)L

I actually eat several small meals throughout the day so I'm munching regularly. I start my day with breakfast so my body does not think I am starving it. I "tape my mouth" at 4:00 (just kidding)... I stop eating at 4:00, and the weight melts off. It's not water weight... It's "fat" weight so the weight stays off. (unless you start the crazy eating again)

This works for me because I don't want to deprive myself of yummy treats. If I want a piece of chocolate or cake or some ice cream, I have it. I have to watch it because sugar is the enemy here.

I'm most active in the evening so I burn calories then. I do my workouts (bike rides etc.) in the evening too. :D
