How long do you experts think it will take me to get here Ana Beatriz Barros Pictures, Photos, Images and Graphics - Myspace, HI5 & Friendster (http://www.graphicshunt.com/celebrities/images/ana_beatriz_barros-2903.htm)
If my color is this Tyra Banks Portrait Pictures, Photos, Images and Graphics - Myspace, HI5 & Friendster (http://www.graphicshunt.com/celebrities/images/tyra_banks_portrait-2782.htm)
I am going to buy Ultraquin cream. Plus its getting cold here.
I want my entire look to be different. I am dying my hair dark dirty blonde so I think if I am lighter it will look better. I am biracial by the way. This is not about race, simply a fashion thing.

Have you changed colors at all? I am going to try and be patient. Monday I will be able to order the 2 tubes of ultraquin. I will post pics of like my hands but not face as I don't want people knowing.
I have always admired the "ritz cracker" complexion that's why I say no to mono.
Have you used anything? And what color are you dying your hair to?

I would suggest only using the cream in the winter though and wear sunblock so that it doesn't oxodise with the air/sun and make you darker!
I'm planning on using a 4% hq cream to in the winter months!
Are you getting coloured contacts as well?
And woow that is expensive!
Vanillawannabe
Oct 3, 2009, 03:18 PM
Lol I know! But its worth it IMO. I don't think to get the contacts, but I have thought of gray, only because they tell me I had it as a baby... I was quite a fair baby and little girl, and was born with flaxen hair, so I am not ENTIRELY transforming myself. Yet by winter of next year I will definitely look different. We are not very dark anyway, so it should probably take 6 months if the sun is avoided

Oct 3, 2009, 03:20 PM
Yeah I'm going to probably start the hq at the start of November with some some retin.a

Glad your getting results golden girl. Have you decided not 2 use mequinol?
Golden_Girl
Nov 14, 2009, 10:45 PM
Thanks Jojo! I have decided to stick with the hq/retina for a few months and then hopefully switch to something more natural but still cost effective that I can maintain with. For me the hq/ra is strong and gives results but will use only temporarily. So I changed my mind from trying the mequinol for now.

Hydroquinone works well on the face too but it is not permanent. I mix raw hydroquinone with eskinol to make a 10% solutuion. I use hydroquinone and mequinol on my face. The mequinol does wonders. It will really lighten you up. The hydroquinone solution is great also but I do not like the fact that it is not permanent.

Hey Missteetee, I have a few questions to ask that I hopw that you can answer for me:
1. Is the mequinol that you use you do not redarken from it, are the results permanent or 2. how do you maintain?
3. What is Eskinol?
4. What percentage of Hq do you use on your face, and you are also using mequinonl 10%?
5. Can you please explain you daily regimen that you use and for how long you have been using it?
6. What is your original shade and how many shades have you lightened? Were you able to lighten your whole body as well?

Hi, regarding my face I use homemade 10% mequinol in the morning and at night. I use the 10% hydroquinone homemade solution on my face in the night time right before I use the mequinol. My face complexion use to be the color of Tatyana Ali but now it is at least 2 shades lighter. I'm not trying to depig at all but I do want to keep my skin lightened by at least 2 shades. My complexion has been maintaining but I have been doing this regimen for a year now non stop. As for my body it has lightened but the color is still a bit uneven. Eskinol is a filipinio product and it is just an astringent that comes in lemon, papaya, calamansi, cucumber and avocado. I prefer the papaya astringent because it lightens your face. But basically I dissolve raw hydroquinone powder with a little alcohol and then I mix it into the eskinol.

Thanks Missteetee for answering. Are you sure you only lightened only 2 shades in one year from using hq and mequinol 10% twice a day? I thought a person would be many shades lighter? I have been using hq 4% and tretinoin 0.05% for 2 weeks on my face and I have lightened 2 shades already, I'm still waiting for my arms and hands to lighten. What celebrity does your new shade look like?

Yes, only two shades. Some have told me that I look a lot lighter but to me it looks like I only lightened 2 shades. The HQ and tretinoin is not permanent. I used the maxi peel #3 and it use to get me really light in the past but it was never permanent, that's why I am using mequinol because it maintains my color. Maybe my mequinol is not being mixed correctly and that could be the reason why I'm getting 2 shades lighter. I also work a lot outside and this could be a reason why also.

missteetee do you not wear sunscreen maybe that's it?
And if you've been using the same hq maybe it has oxidised and become ineffective

Nov 16, 2009, 05:08 PM
I agree with Fairr. The minimal results may also be coming from not using a high spf sunscreen/sunblock of 60+ and also oxidized mequinol/hydroquinone can minimize the results. Missteetee are you alllowed to wear a fishing hat or some other type of hat that can also provide shading? Reaching Ciara's complexion is nice though, but then with these additional items and even reapplying sunblock while outside can help save money from the mequinol/hq by using it less.
Also, I wanted to know how do you know if your mequinol is permanent if your applying it twice daily. You would have to discontinue using it and see if you redarken to see if it is permanent, or you can try and maintain your results by using it 2-3 times weekly. How light do you want to get or have you reached your goal?

Yes, I can wear one. Its just me being careless and I don't use sunscreen at all but I am going to get some tomorrow. Maybe I should stop for a month to see if it is really permanent. I will finish up using it this month and when December gets here I will stop using it till maybe January. What product do you use to stop hydroquinone and mequinol from oxidizing? I am happy the complexion that I am but I want to maintain it. I don't want to get too light, lol. I can't be around her looking like little kim not to mention my family does not believe in skin bleaching.

I don't use sunscreen. I figured since I am black I don't require sunscreen but its obvious that I am so wrong. Yeah I know its pretty silly not to wear sunscreen because I am black, but a lot of blacks don't use sunscreen. What do I use to stop HQ from oxidizing?

I used to think that too that I wouldn't need sunscreen. Although we have far less damage in comparison to very fair skin, it's very important to use especially when you are lightening so that you can keep most of your results. I remember when I found this out last year I was upset and really dissapointed, because I didn't feel like rubbing on sunblock daily. But, now I'm just use to it and it is a habit just like brushing teeth.
I haven't tried compounding my own hq or mequinol yet. But, I do know that hq can oxidize very quickly due it being an unstable chemical and can oxidize due to light, air, misformulations of hq, not having it placed in a non transparent tube or pump bottle, or the hq expiriring too quickly before use. I'm sure there maybe other reasons. What alcohol type are you melting your hq in? Dessaml knows more about hq and compounding.

Yes I guess I will need to get into the habit of using sunscreen also. This has to be the reason why I have only lightened 2 shades. I am using 99% alcohol. I find that compounding my HQ is a lot cheaper than buying. I wonder if there is a product that you can use to stop HQ from oxidizing.
