I have a coleman evcon that I can't get the pilot light to light in the thermostat the red and white wire were shorting int the thermostat would this have anything to do with it not smelling gas either

You might have a blown transformer,, if you have a gas valve that is electric controlled as some colemans do the gas valve won`t open to allow gas to come out
