I'm curious how I or my husband could report the company that he works for. He's working 82 hours this week because his boss is on vacation. He's not allowed to leave because he's the only one in the store aside from the guy that works part time loading in the back. So he works 12 hour days- 6 days a week and a 6 hour day on Sunday. The company won't hire anyone else. This just seems completely wrong to me and my husband is exhausted working so many hours.

Thanks for the help!

That is an insane schedule.Fatigue causes accidents in the workplace and that is why they have laws in place to not only protect the employee but the employer.
I would contact the dept of labor. Below is the link.

OK, so I called. He has to file the complaint since he works there. It would turn out to not be so anonymous at all because he's the only one working those insane hours there. So what's the worst case scenario if he files this complaint?

Office of the Whistleblower Protection Program (OWPP) (http://www.osha.gov/dep/oia/whistleblower/index.html)

I'm don't think they'd be legally allowed to do anything to him. If they did, he should be able to report them again.

I'll have to tell him about these links. I wanted to try to find out exactly what the law states about working that many hours like that. I'll have to do a little more searching. Thanks for your help guys.
