This is a human resource question.
I was hired last year in 09/2008 by a new england hospital
They made me an offer and "bumped" me up $1.50 and said I would be lead of the department.
Okay, so I left my job of 10 years and took this new position. THe first day I knew I wasn't lead. I knew they just created this position to entice me to come work for them. I didn't aruge, never gave it a second thought after that.
Fast forward 10 months. There a 6 of us in our area. The "lead technician" position was put out to all of us. None of us wanted it. Reluctantly, two of the techs decided they would "share" the position.
I received my review last Monday. Pretty favorable. Two days later I get a piece of paper saying what my new salary is... about a dollar less then what I was making.
I went and saw my the assistant to my boss because the big boss was out for a couple of weeks. SHe said that they decided that since I didn't "step-up" and take the lead position that they are getting rid of my $1.50. After getting over the initial shock, I asked her why someone didn't come to me and tell me that I would lose my $1.50 if I didn't take the position. She couldn't answer me. I asked her why the position was put in place if I was "technically" the leaad tech anyhow? SHe couldn't answer me.
I know, and everyone around me knows that this is totally and completely unethical, wrong and totally disrespectfull and disgusting. All I want to know is... CAN SHE LEGALLY DO THIS?
