Well when the doctor saw you, what was the cause of the pus, and what type of medication did the doctor give you.

Some antibiotics are taken up by the body and go into tissues, others tend to pass right through the body. You want the latter kind. Unless you have an antibiotic resistant strain or something unusual, Augmentin will normally clear up a bladder infection.

But your doctor should have prescribed something. Did s/he not? You should have been given Pyridium (phenazopyridine), which turns your urine orange, but stops the pain. Also, drink as much cranberry juice as possible. Don't get the kind that's half grape juice or half something else. Cranberry juice cocktail is fine--it's half sugar water.

It's unlikely you will give it to your boyfriend. But make a point of going to the bathroom soon after intercourse to minimize the chance of having infections in the future. Also, avoid activities that could transfer bacteria from your rectum to your vagina. And drink cranberry juice. The cranberry blocks the bacteria from attaching to the cells in your bladder and starting an infection.

Hope this helps!
