Hi,

I really need to find some novels by an American author, and the critique written on him.

Can somebody tell how I can download them?

Thanks

Google Guttenberg has a website where there are free downloads. When you hit the download button, a popup screen will appear and please read the instructions. Also, be sure that your firewall is on as there are some websites that "pass" viruses or trojans and other ugh things to your computer with the downloads.
There are authors that have copyrights so you have to pay to download them.
Your local library has free borrowing. You could check with them for the author you wish if you don't have the money for a download. Good luck

Gutenberg.org is the largest free online library that I know of. All works are in the public domain, so you won't find anything post-1925, but you can find almost anything pre-1925.
Are you looking for any title in particular?

For example, here's a link to the works of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, an american author and poet from the 19th century:

Browse By Author: L - Project Gutenberg (http://www.gutenberg.org/browse/authors/l#a16)

Thanks for your answers.

My author is Bernard Malamud (1916-1986), a Jewish-American writer.

Can you help me please?

Malamud is a recent author, so his works aren't in the public domain yet, which means you'll probably have to buy them. These are the best downloads I found:
Amazon.com: Bernard Malamud's "Black Is My Favorite Color": A Study Guide from Gale's "Short Stories for Students" (Volume 16, Chapter 2): Books (http://www.amazon.com/Bernard-Malamuds-Black-Favorite-Color/dp/B00009X7MR/ref=sr_1_32?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1253898554&sr=1-32)

Amazon.com: Bernard Malamud's "The Fixer": A Study Guide from Gale's "Novels for Students" (Volume 09, Chapter 4): Books (http://www.amazon.com/Bernard-Malamuds-Fixer-Students-Chapter/dp/B00006G3KZ/ref=sr_1_30?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1253898554&sr=1-30)

This is an online summary with study notes that you can buy for $3.29:
The Fixer by Bernard Malamud<br>MonkeyNotes Summary / Study Guide PDF Version (http://monkeynote.stores.yahoo.net/fixbybermalm.html)

If you are going to pay anyway, you might decide to just get the books. You can get them used from just $3.47:
Amazon.com: Used and New: The Complete Stories (http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/0374525757/ref=sr_1_olp_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1253898731&sr=1-1)

What you can find online for free are reviews and critiques of his books, like these:
The Natural

The Fixer
Review of Bernard Malamud's The Fixer - BrothersJudd.com (http://brothersjudd.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/reviews.detail/book_id/1069)
General Critiques:

Bernard Malamud Criticism (http://www.enotes.com/twentieth-century-criticism/malamud-bernard)

Hope that helps!

Some copyrighted books can be downloaded to the Kindle which is sold by Amazon. It's a epaper reader. Sony and then Kindle are the most popular.
There are others in the works from other manufacturer's and 8/5 x 11 versions of ebook readers, I think are due out 1Q of 2010 I think.

What was not known, however, is that Amazon had the ability to unknowingly delete works previosly downloaded and paid for.
