I am currently in the United States Army and deployed to Iraq and with a wonderful woman with two children that are not mine. When I return from Iraq I would like to move her and the children out of state and give them a new life, but the father of the children has said he will make this very difficult or impossible for the children to leave the state thought where we would be moving would only be four and a half hours away driving. The catch is that my fiancé and the children's father were never married and we intend on getting married in about a year from now. The children are 3 and 6 years of age I offered to meet with the father man to man to attempt to convince him I am not trying to take his place as the children's father as long as he wants to be involved with them and their lives and he refuses to meet with me. I assume he is acting like this to make a difficult time for my fiancé which is not fair for the children or anyone else involved espeacially if the move would benefit the kids and my fiancé. What can she she and I do?

She needs to go to family court and file for full custody. Work out a visitation agreement and take it from there. Then it will be up to the Judge to have the say if she moves or not or whatever he says as options.
