View Full Version : What would you like to see in Health Care Reform

Excon's poll asks us what we think will pass from among the various health care bills. He thinks that this will tell us what it is you are thinking about health care.

I want to ask a more pointed question.

What would you like to see in health care reform? What would you support?

So... I'm going to try to see if I can create a new poll. I hope this works.

Er... how do I set up a poll?

Supposedly (https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/faq.php?s=&do=search&q=poll&match=all&titlesonly=0), "To create a poll when you post a new thread, simply click the 'Yes, post a poll with this thread' checkbox at the bottom of the page.

I don't have any such options that I can find. I apparently don't merit such privileges.

Heh, that was a little funny. :)

Here you go: Ask Me Help Desk - FAQ (https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/faq.php?s=&do=search&q=polls&match=all&titlesonly=0)
Second item down.

I don't have a "poll" option when I post a new thread.

It must be racism.

Me neither. I tried both skins, Default and Light. Hmmm... I wonder who excon is sleeping with to get polls...

Hello again:

I ain't special, and I AIN'T a computer dude... But if, BEFORE you hit the post question button, you look down below, you'll see some options - like POLL options. But, once you've hit the post question button WITHOUT having pushed the POLL button, you ain't going to get a poll.

Uh... nope. I looked both before and after I hit the send button. No such option.

What would you like to see in health care reform? What would you support?Hello again, El:

So, while we're here, I'll answer your question..

I'd like to see health care become a utility like fire or police protection is... What? Do you give your credit card number before they'll send a fire truck? Will the fire department put out a fire in an illegal aliens house? Do you think they shouldn't?

Do you think that people should pay for a service they don't think they need and don't want to buy?

Worse... do you think I should pay for that service for someone else who could afford it all on their lonesome but don't want to pay for it themselves?

Of course you do... communism is a perfectly normal response to a problem for you.

But it ain't American...

Perhaps the fact that you don't think that way has something to do with the number of people that come to the USA from Canada for their health care, the lack of R&D in the medical field in Canada, and a shortage of medical professionals in Canada.

Perhaps you SHOULD be thinking that way.

Nah... Canada is a health care utopia.

That's not what we were discussing though is it. Once again you changed the subject to avoid something. Always on the offensive. Attack, attack, attack...

Actually, you said:

It's funny that no one who lives in a country that has universal health care ever thinks that way - they are contributing to their healthcare because eventually you use it, everyone does.

Seems to me that you WERE talking about how people in Canada think... I don't think that you have enough experience to be talking about what people in the UK or France or Denmark think.

Which brings me back to my point... perhaps you Canadians SHOULD be thinking that way. It wasn't an attack. It was a direct response to your post.

You're so sensitive lately...

I guess you could point to posts on this forum from people from France, UK and Canada that complain they are paying for someone else. I'll wait. All I see are far right americans making that claim.

I didn't address what Canadians or anyone else claim. I was addressing YOUR post... a statement about how people in Canada think.

And I proposed that perhaps the fact that they think that way (according to you) is the reason for many of their issues, and that they should perhaps try thinking differently.

Please stick to the subject.

Round and round we go....

Only because you can't stick to a point and insist on bringing in extraneous points. If you stuck to the topic, you MIGHT just learn something once you get to the logical conclusion of the topic. Instead, you bring in issues that nobody was talking about and attempt to confuse the issue.

Stick to the topic at hand.
