I need to remove the knob/dial that controls washer function. Please Help!

There a few types:
1. One just pulls off
2. Look for 2 set screws about 90 degrees apart
3. One set screw on a flat part of the shaft
4. A removeable estucheon plate on the face of the knob and attachment mechanism.
