Can anyone please help me figure out the next three terms or the rules for any of the following sequences?

1) 1/2, 1/2, 3/8, 1/4, 5/32

2)-2, -3/2, -6/5, -1.5, -6/7

3) -6, -2, 0, 1, 3/2

4) -6, -3, -2, -3/2, -6/5

I'll give you some hints:

1) If you rewrite the second number as 2/4, and the fourth as 4/16, you have the series:

1/2, 2/4, 3/8, 4/16, 5/32...

Do you see the patterns in the numerator and denominator?

2) Please clarify - is the fourth term really supposed to be -1.5, or is that a typo? If it's really supposed to be -1, then you have the same pattern as in sequence number 4 (see below).

3) Look at the differences between each pair of numbers - there's a definite pattern there.

4) Consider how much you would have to multiply each term to get the next. Note - if sequence 2 has a typo in it (which I believe it does), then you can get your answer from sequence 2.

1) Ok, so in the first sequence the next three terms would be 6/64, 7/128, 8/256?

2) The fourth term in the second sequence is -1 1/2.

3) Is the next three terms in the third sequence 2 1/4, 2 5/8, 2 13/16?

4) In sequence four I've got
-6(1/2)=-3(2/3)=-2(3/4) but I can't seem to figure out what to multiply by next to get -6/5? I must be missing something?

1) Yes

2) If that is so, I find it like this:

1. multiply by 4/3
2. multiply by 5/4
3.multiply by 4/5
4. multiply by 7/4

I believe that the next one is obtained by multiplying the last term by 4/7. Then, 4/9, then 9/4.

3. Nope, try again for that one. (+4, +2, +1, +0.5, +0.25, +0.125, etc)

4. It's firstly multiplied by 1/2, then 2/3, then 3/4, then 4/5. Can you do it now?
