L have working in cleaning for 4 years now and l don't want to work agencies anymore. L have been as an industrial cleaner in construction sites and factories then end up as an office cleaner. The job is hard and the pay less from the agencies so l thought to work for myself. And my question is HOW TO SET UP MY OWN CLEANING BUSINESS ?

First you have to have a clear picture of what services you want to provide. You can't do that after you start. If you know your limitations, you can concentrate on the things you can do with the minimum of supplies or equipment.

Since it sounds like you have experience in several aspects of cleaning, pick the ones you know you can control easily; not to big to handle at the start.

Before you approach your prospects, list all the problems that you know they face; like not showing up; showing up late; doing incomplete work; charging too much.

When you approach your new prospects for jobs, make sure you include in your presentation those problems they face in trying to get the job done right; don't point them out since both of you already know the problems, just highlight them as part of your normal way of working. Dependability and trust is much more important then price. Price doesn't sell the wise buyer. In fact, I have always charged much much more then my competitors did. You are the product you have to sell, not the services.

Hi, serigne!

So, do you plan to work out of your home or office somewhere else? Also, will you be working by yourself or do you plan to have employees?

Those are just a couple of initial questions for you for us to get started here. Stringer is an Expert here with this sort of thing. He owns and operates a very large cleaning company in the Chicago, IL area. I'll let him know about your post.

Thanks!

It's funny when you get older, all the training and learning is there and it seems a shame not to use it. I still think of doing consulting work. I was one of those fortunate salesmen that was trained to an extraordinary level. Wish I could still use it. Maybe someday when I get older. If I can help someone in these trying times, it makes me feel good.

I particularly liked your comment; "You are the product you have to sell, not the services."

There are so many aspects to sales as I am sure you already know Mortal. Trust, honesty, dependability, etc. One of the many ways to succeed is to quickly establish a rapport with a new prospect. This is done through many methods, one is just asking good questions and being the solution to his/her problems.

Thank you again my friend, I will get back as quickly as I can. It would help if the OP will get back to answer your questions and we can go from there...
