Hi there,
I am suffering from a burning sensation in my lower back (sacrum area) especially when sitting down. I find some relief whilst standing although not much, I do benefit from much relief when I'm lying down resting. I've been to my GP and I've had some blood works done which all came back normal and had an x-ray done on my lumbar spine that indicates I suffer from mild scoliosis, but that my GP says the symptoms I get are not due to this, he says that what I have is nerve pain and has given me a prescription of amitryptiline which I have not taken yet as I feel I have not been diagnosed properly. I'm also seeiing my gyanecologist as I'm going through premenopause he's done several ultrasound scans on me and they all seem to be all right although he thinks I should consider taking HRT as I have a hormonal imbalance with low estrogen levels. I've also been to see a gastroenterologist, he performed a GI test on me that came back normal, but he also requested some x-rays on my back because he said that my problem is coming from there. My x-rays confirmed I do have a low back problem and he feels I should go to see a traumatologist.
Please could you answer me back with your opinion as to what you think I could be suffering from and give me some guidance on what to do and who to really go and see as I feel I'm been messed around with no solution to my problem.

Has anyone mentioned your kidneys? This is an often misdiagnosed area whenever there is back pain and nothing else turns up. Can you request a referral to a nephrologist ? Absolutely everything must be considered

As for HRT, I was taking that a few years ago until I started reading up on the side effects for women on HRT and the downside is possible heart disease in women on HRT. So do some reading before you agree to take HRT. There are benefits but the long term side effects I think outway that option and anyway, a woman won't be taking them on a long term basis anyway, I mean passed 70.

Hi tickle
Thanks for your reply I will ask my GP to refer me to a nephrologist. As for HRT I have done some reading on this and I'm scared of the possible side effects therefore I think I have to reconsider it very well. Thanks again.

It could be a pinched nerve. Chiroprator might help

Ask your doctor if a MRI is in order. It took one for them to find out that I needed back surgery. I know the pain and frustration that comes with back problems. I wish you the best.

Google Dr Trester
His site shows a spines and symptoms at each level. A nuerologist (never doctor) finally found it for me it took him 2 mionutes after he looked at the mri. He wouln't look at the report. He needs to see the mri. Spinal fusion 13 years ago. Good Luck! Don't give up, keep seeking help someone will find it.
