I have a Hampton Bay Ceiling fan with light and remote. It is hooked up to a light switch as well. The fan and light were on and instead of using the remote to turn it off, I used the light switch. Now the light won't come on at all. The fan turns on when I click on the button for the light (but the light doesn't come on still). If I have the light button off and try to turn on the fan, the fan won't come on unless I click it down a notch (fan not on high). Then the fan changes speeds as I click the light button. It makes no difference if I have the wall switch on or off. I have since just left the wall switch in the on position, thinking that might have flipped out the remote. How do I fix this? Thank you for any help with this!

It doesn't make any sense to me either. Turning the light switch off shouldn't damage the remote. Try turning it off by the switch, leaving it off, and turning it back on again. It's possible the RF signals aren't entirely reaching the fan properly, maybe the battery in the remote is weak?

No real ideas here, other than, remote fans are full of problems and hard to fix.
