Hi! Fellow Members,

I will be searching on my own, but would like to know if any of you have any leads on an:

AMFTRAC 1414 Lawn Tractor.
14hp Kohler, K321, Spec. 6055B.
Pully to shaft Hydro-static drive.

Tractor is in tear-down, clean-up, and re-paint mode right now. See pix.

Hi,
Did not see the picture (nice) until the second look. Looks like an Eaton unit hooked to the Western transaxle. Only seen those a couple of times (about like the old AMF MowTrac and the Pennsylvania) and it looks neat.
I hear tat the Massey 14 was the same thing (since it was made by them) and it is damn near impossible to find.
As someone who was "farmed" out to restore old machines (I do engine, mechanical, electrical, functional) during the off-season and at a progressive, but informed rate; I can say it is informative, fun, aggravating, and that most of the old sites I used to use the search engines no longer find. I used to do one or two a year, but the sites I used are not on this computer; nor can I seem to easily find them.
There is a blessing and curse in being found on a search engine. This being the reason why I do not always tell how I find answers, nor my sites. Many years ago, 1990's, I brought all the bartending sites "to there knees" or took them off the Internet by revealing their location by a post to a forum (HWG) of an entirely different nature. I watched them go down. I know how to get noticed by search engines and how not to get noticed.
I am looking for those "hidden" sites that I have used in the past; yes, they are hidden. I know how to do that, also
Peace,
Clarke

I follow you... I've been to a few sites that used to offer free download's of their manuals, but stopped because they found out people were getting the manuals from them free, then selling them for a profit on eBay or Amazon.

Thank you for the reply.

Hi,
Did not want you think I just forgot! I still think it is the same machine as a MF 14, from all indications. I do not see the problem with the public nature; I joined about five Yahoo groups looking for answers here and elsewhere (the Piranha deck had me going since I do not have password acess to Deere any more.)
Peace,
Clarke

Thank You Clarke... The shop's closed for the night, but I'll be checking those numbers tomorrow, and thanks for the pix.

Just wanted to give an update on the 14...

Front spindle ends needed bushed.
Rebuilt right grill mount (grill is cast iron).
Pix shows fabrication of front loader.

Hi,
Just as a thought if you have not done or thought of it before, there are a number of groups on Yahoo the you can join for free that are dedicated to garden tractors. Some are focused and others are general. One for manuals. A search for "vintage" garden tractors will yield far better results than "old" will even dream.
Peace,
Clarke
PS looking good! There are some sites that specialize in used attachments. I saw one in my research that even some new (dusty) ones.

More pix's:

Hard to see in this shot, but was able to find a used decal for dash instrumentation. Still looking for a replacement for the dash cowling. The engineered plastic's they used back in the day, must of gotten UV crazed, and it cracks real easy. Have used bondo, and then fiberglass bondo.
I'm afraid it won't hold up after one of our harsh Pa. winter's or a season of mowin'.

There where the three bolts connect it to the battery/fuel compartment (it looks like a laid down L l___ ) the corner bolt cracked the cowling, You can just barely see it in the next pix. (circled, lower right corner of pix).

Howda you like the "Hilborn" injector treatment for the carb?
There will be a filter over that when it's workin' in the yard.

Does sound good though when its runnin'...
Shame AMHD doesn't allow sound files or do they? I'll have to check.
No, no .wav files :(
