what if there was a people not descended of adam and eve? Would they still be subject to original sin? What about the medieval thought that it was only women who were subject to original sin and men only committed sin because they were born of women?

Regarding the question; if you don't mind hearing belief of a non-Christian on the topic.
I do believe in Adam(alaihi salaam) and Eve/Hawwa (alaihi salaam) being the first humans,but I do not believe in original sin or that we are being punished for their sins.

We believe in each person being responsible for his own sins or good deeds and being accountable for them in the sight of the Almighty on the day of judgment.

I have no problem with hearing the opinions and beliefs of non-christians. I'm actually hoping to, which is why I didn't post this on the christianity board. Hopefully others will follow your lead.

As a Former Christian (16 years since I have stepped into a church) I never bought into the entire Idea of original sin. What kind of God would punish everyone for the acts of two people thousands of years ago. I asked this question when I was in the 5th grade at the Catholic school I went to. Got a month of detention for even questioning this. None of the nuns would answer me.

And I never bought into the idea that god made adam and eve and we are related to them. How do we have so many race's from two people? And the amount of inbreeding that had to happen to populate the world from 2 people we should all be mentally or physically disabled in some way.

That's one of the, many, things that always bothered me.

I am sure we are not being affected by inbreeding as it may have happened in ancient times.

That is how they keep the blood and their power "pure". I always have found that strange.

In ancient egypt the ruling class married their siblings to keep the power within the family. First cousins were even seen as too distant.

On topic. The story of Adam and Eve and original sin is just that, a story. Worse, it's only one side of it, HIS-story. Her story was probably quite different. The myth has proven very useful to some though.

The word "Incest" was not used by the Royalties who practices inbreeding between their family members to keep their lineage pure and royal.
