I have two black labradors both 9 years old. One keeps trying to hide, he used to do it when we had family over, he used to be fine with these family members but is now trying to hide from them. He is scraping at floors, in corners and even the downstairs toilet. He has started doing it when it is just me and my children at home. We have lived in our house for 10 years so it is not a case of environmental changes. A few weeks ago he woke us up a couple of nights in a row to go outside to be sick but has been fine since, he is eating fine and not being sick. What should I do?

I would take him to a Vet - something is wrong and it could be anything from a minor problem to something serious.

I was out of Town a few weeks ago, a neighbor had firecrackers, my dog sitter rushed over but my German Shepherd was traumatized and she hid (as you describe) for a day or two after I got home but she is fine now. If the behavior continues - as it has with your dog - I would have her checked by a Vet.

Had to spread the rep Judy but I agree, vet check first to rule any medical problems out before we move onto behavioral issues.
