Hi, we just purchased a empty lot and are planning on building. I have located the power and water, but just need to locate the sewer hookup. I have talked to the city and they said they have no records that would tell me where on my lot it would be. I have been digging a circle around the water as I have been told that the sewer is usually within 10 feet of the water hookup. I have dug well over a 10' circle around the water with no luck still. The water is about 50' in from the main water turn on valve in the alley and I was told I could dig a trench appx 10' on either side that may help locate it. I would like to try to avoid digging anymore if possible.

I'm on a corner lot and there is a man hole in the center of the road that the alley meets to. I have only been digging a shovels length down because the lots near me that are empty (they have visible sewer lines poking about a foot out the ground but they weren't for sale... grrr) are about twelve of my foot-to-foot steps away from the water. I have measured and dug toward the man hole, toward the water line... with no avail. Anyone have any suggestions on anything else I can do? I have contacted a plumber but he hasn't gotten back to me yet. I tried the city sewer and water guy and he told me to try witching... does that even truly work?

Tired of Digging!

The Building Department ALWAYS keeps records of where they install sewer taps. If the city has a street raiser for your property they will have a record of it. If not they will have to cut one in Good luck, Tom

Just talked to another couple that are putting up a house a couple blocks away. He went in and askef for the sewer lines and locations and she sat down with him and went through the whole subdivision with him... I think she has something against Women... Both his wife and I went in and asked the same thing and she told us they didn't have one. What a raunch... Anyhow, turns out there isn't anything on either of our lots like we were told when we bought the lots, oh well... Guess we are putting one in :O)

Thanks for the help. This is an awesome place!

I'd lodge a strong complaint with her boss. They are there to serve you, not the other way around. I wouldn't set back and just accept this. I'd be raising hell with someone! Good luck, Tom
