iPhone out of country data roaming charges are prohibitive. Most European or Asian hotels provide, at a cost, high speed internet connections but not wireless. Can I travel with a router and connect it to the high speed internet connection in a hotel room and then get wi- fi so I can use my iPhone without roaming charges? The router I have is a Linksys WTR160N V3.

Based on the specs (http://www.apple.com/iphone/specs.html) on Apple's site for the iPhone, theoretically that seems plausible; connect the router to the wired hotel network and then wirelessly connect the iPhone to the router. However, even if technically possible, there may be artificial limitations on access that the hotels may have implemented to enforce their use policies. But since you already have the router, you've got nothing to lose by trying it.
