The Ph level in my local water level is too high and is stunting my plants I believe. Can I use muriatic acid mixed in my watering can to help lower this level? I remember growing up that my mom used to use muriatic acid all the time in her gardening and unfortunately she is no longer with us to help me in my love of gardening. I would like to have the level around 5.5 to 6 and in a one gallon jug I am getting a reading of around 7.6 pH. How much muriatic acid do I need to use to lower this.

Thanks in advance for your help! :)

I may not exactly be able to help, but here is an MSDS of muratic acid. It's ~10 % hydrochloric acid. http://www.brown.edu/Departments/Visual_Art/documents/Muriaticacid.pdf

I know you won't need very much at all. Try like a teaspoon. Mix and test. This is only a guess.

Bakiing soda makes it more base.
