I defaulted on a loan I had in 2002, after checking my credit report this default is on my report as expected however the default date is 10/2008 does anybody know if there is anything I can do to have this corrected?

Why? You defaulted on a loan
I am surprised there has not been a judgement against you.

Contact the credit bureau and ask them to correct it
