In ga, is there a time limit for the court to act and set a custody hearing?

Yes - "first available date" after all proper paperwork is filed.
What is your situation?

It is somewhat complicated; I had sole custody because the father is a deadbeat. I was on probation and violated by not reporting a change of address, arrested and he finds out my situation and files for temp custody. I spent 6 weeks in jail and have been out now for
Going on 5 months now. My kids are suffering because of this and I'm ready to get custody back.

Have you filed for a change of custody hearing already?
I understand the situation... but not the question. Is it taking a long time to get a hearing? Do you live somewhere that courts are swamped (big cities usually... sometimes very rural areas)?
Do you have a lawyer?

Yes I have a lawyer, a paid one at that. And he seems to be dragging his feet. I'm just getting frustrated.
