I am probably one of the biggest wuss's when it comes to needles. I was wondering do tattoos hurt, I want it on my arm/shoulder area. I know pain tolerance is different for every person, but I just want an idea. Has anybody had it hurt so bad they can't even finish it because that is what I'm scared of. I would say my pain tolerance is not to bad, but I'm just terrified of needles, like I won't even get novacaine when I have to get a filling.

Thanks :)

It depends on your pain tolerance and wuss level. Also some say tattoo on bone hurts worse than on non bone areas and others say the other way around.

I have no pain tolerance and am a wuss that hates needles so I can only think of what I would like for a tattoo.

Having an injection and having a tattoo are two completely different sensations.

With a normal needle from the doctors you can feel it going into your flesh then you can feel the liquid going in..

With a tattoo you can't tell it's a needle, it feels more like a piece of warm glass scraping on your skin.
If you have nails, dig them into your arm and drag... similar feeling.

It depends on your pain tolerance but for me it was not that bad. There were a few moments where I thought about asking the tattoist to stop for a bit but by the time I went to ask, he had stopped, and pulled the needle away to re-adjust his arm.

You can get numbing cream from a chemist (pharmacy) you apply it 2 hours before you appointment, cover it with plastic wrap and it will be completely numb.
Once the plastic is removed it lasts for around 20-30 minutes.
