I have a 1998 ford pickup with a 4.6 litre moter.when I bought the truck it had a super chip in it.the moter pings when I give it lots of throttle.I am wondering if it is the chip that could be causing this.any suggestions.

It's possible, since chips can affect timing. The pinging may go away, if you use higher octane gas. Ensure the truck is not starting to overheat. Also, consider installing colder Motorcraft spark plugs. It's best to use Motorcraft or Autolite spark plugs in Fords--stay away from Bosch. Using 5W-30 full-synthetic engine oil will also reduce the required octane and help the engine run cooler.
