HI,
Is this machine about 20 years old and a 160, or a few years old and a LT160. If you had said the deck size or given the serial number; I would know.
Peace,
Clarke

The mower deck is for a 36" ? Deck on a John Deere 160 (not the JD LT160). Would you have a diagram.

Thanks.

Hi,
It is a 38" deck. It has a spring to tension the secondary (blade) belt and one to tension the primary belt. Installing the secondary belt is best done with the spring hooked to the idler arm and unhooked from the deck. Put the belt on and then hook to the deck with a lightweight piece of rope doubled into a loop. Release one end and ease it out by the other end.
Attach deck at two front points and four midpoints. Put primary belt on top pulley on deck and electric clutch. Last spin the arm on the right side of the deck counter-clockwise 90 degrees to tension the primary belt.
BTW the LT160 has a 42, so size would have told me, or saying two belts, or electric clutch.
Picture attached.
Peace,
Clarke
