Yesterday I moved my refrigerator across the kitchen, a total of about 7 metres. I had to shift it from side to side, corner to corner. It was not tilted more than about 20 degrees, and the electric cable was secured: but once I plugged it into the mains, it did not work: no light inside, no sound from the motor. I have checked the fuse in the electric plug, and that's fine.

The 'fridge is a Bosch larder 'fridge, about 4' 9" (145 cms) in height, and is only 6 or 7 years old. It has worked perfectly up to now.

Any ideas what I can do, please?

Did you plug a light or tester in receptacle to see if it has power?

The electric socket is definitely working, yes!

If cord was plugged in and pulled tight, it may have broken a connection in the cord.
You could see if you have resistance at the end of the cord. Then where cord attaches inside the frige, check for resistance, of if able to do safely, plug in and see if voltage is present at inside connections.
I would verify receptacle, I have seen people test the top half of a receptacle, plug into bottom and have no power because half was switched.

I'm with Strat. Get an extension cord, plug fridge in original outlet and see what happens.
No workey, got to be fridge, working got to be outlet.

Yes, I've already dragged 'fridge back to original position. It wasn't the socket at fault - it's the 'fridge.
Why would it stop working, just because of a little movement side to side?
