Hi I need a router for my laptop- I have wireless and get connect to wherever I can, but the connection goes on and off-- I'm tired of it.
I don't know anything about routers, only that you can connect it to the internet and use it on your laptop- right?.
Anyway, before I enter the store to buy one I'd like to know what I should be looking for - I don't want to be conned into buying the most expensive one.
I've tried Googling this, but all I get is a whole bunch of mumbo jumbo I don't really understand-- so bear with me.
Thanks!
Sarah

My boyfriend recommends lynksis routers. My aunt used to have some other one that was always disconnecting too. It finally just burnt out completely and he replaced it with a lynksis. She doesn't have problem with it anymore. I have a lynksis router too and I never experience any problems.

Okay thanks-- is there just one type of Lynksis router?
Thanks justcurious for the quick reply:)

I have the Linsys 2.4GHz router connected to my PC so that my laptop will get access throughout the home and about 200 feet or more beyond.

Oh thanks J.
Is 2.4GHz good?
I have fast internet connection installed at home, I heard that some routers are slow even if you have high speed internet- if that's true then what type of router should I be looking for if I want high speed internet?
Hope I made sense.
Sarah
I'm loving it. It's the Linksys Wireless-G. Works wonders.

There are N band routers out now. They are much faster than G band for wireless and LAN. With the N band you can get up to 1000 mbps (LAN) and 270 mbps (Wireless). The G band is 100 mbps (LAN) and 54 (Wireless). If you get a 2.4 Ghz router then 2.4 Ghz telephones may interfere with your signal. They do make 5 something Ghz routers. Those should not have any interference.
And that up there is what my boyfriend says. Not me, I'm not the computer whiz :)
