My daughter is getting a crown on Monday. And I called to ask what the crown would be. (silver, gold, steel, ect)

First she said 'oh we only use silver on kids'

And I said oh OK, that's good because she doesn't do well with non precious metal jewelry (minor allergic reaction)
So I wasn't sure if that would affect her tooth as well.

Then she said 'yes ma'am its all stainless steel'

I said thank you and hung up BEFORE it registered that she said it was silver, AND stainless steel...

Are they the same? Was she mistaken or mis spoke on accedent?

Does anyone know what the standard crown filling for a child of 5 would be?

Why do you need a crown?

My five year old needs a crown not me.

Because she has a cavity that is getting dangerously close to her root. She has 1 other cavity but it's a small one and they aren't going to bother with it because it's a baby tooth. But this one is too close to the root, and its on a molar which won't fall out and be replaced for several more years.

Lol yeah but I'm not sure I have a choice in what they use. They never asked. Its all about what my insurance decides to pay for ;) I DO hope they do silver, as I trust it more. But if my insurance will cover that expensive one that you can't see, that would be nice. But I doubt it hehe

Stainless steel crowns ARE silver. If it's a back tooth SS is usually used. If it's a front tooth you'd want plastic for sure!
