How often should you deworm a puppy?

You can start as early as 3 weeks. Go every week if you use Pyrantel Pamoate until 12 weeks. We start puppies on heartworm prevention which has some defense against these worms. So at the 8 week visit they get dewormer if they hadn't started it then and once a week until the 12 week visit. Then they get Interceptor monthly until 6 mo. After then the owner can change to Tri-Heart/Heartgard.
Also, depending on which worms your puppy has different dewormer can be utilized.

How often should you deworm a puppy?
The dewormer I bought (PetGold Liquid Wormer) had a schedule on the box - the initial dose, then again in 10 days, then every 30 days thereafter to prevent reinfestation. But are you talking about a vet service? In that case I'd call the vet.

Hope that helps!

Here's the thing about OTC dewormers. They aren't always the proper strength, dosing or even an active working wormer. What is the actual name of the active ingredient on the box and what strength is it. If you have a good relationship with you vet you can call ahead of a visit and get dewormer and a flea prevention before your scheduled visit.

There is no good reason to routinely deworm a puppy. I have had 17 puppies since 1991, and none of them ever needed deworming. In some cases they did need to be dewormed before I got them. I do keep my puppies on Heartgard+ or Revolution year around which eliminates some forms of worms in addition to killing immature heartworms. When you have your puppy to the vet for shots, take a stool sample. If the vet checks it and finds evidence of worms, then he can give you the effective treatment right for whatever ones the puppy has.

Year round heartworm is a good idea unless you have severe winters. At least the fleas croak for the winter here.

Do you have children? Of course you need to regularly deworm your puppy. Just ask any vet. No matter if it is natural deworming or one you purchase. These parasites can and are deadly to children. Every puppy has worms. If you only deworm once it won't kill all of them. Also, unless your vet is using a centrifuge and a Zinc solution to spin fecal samples they are only 80% accurate. Depending on who reads them and what technique is being used the eggs can be missed.
