My best suggestion is to get an appraisal of it...

Other then that I found some links, one in particular from an auction house. Which seem to have auctioned of a painting called:

Old Sea Captain by Kip Standers.

This was in 2008, it might be possible to call the auction house and ask them about the auction and that particular piece. If its still open and if they have an office. I couldn't see a phone number... but there is an address, so if you take a quick search on the web (yellowpapers might hold it)

Hi snaggerr,

What a fantastic picture that is, I think it may even be before the 60's.That captain shows real character.

However I have hunted around to no avail, yes, you can find it under the auction sites but I couldn't find a value, maybe someone else will have more luck.

You could try a local antique dealer/shop they are bound to have some idea or perhaps you have a local art gallery close to you, that would be sure to have some info', or know a man who does.

There are always the central library's, although you should be able to find everything you need online, however that's not always the case and sometimes they do have records and information that we may not otherwise have known.

I wish you luck
