The check engine light is on my 2005 Kia Sorrento. Took to dealer and recommended replacing Evaporative Emission System Purge Control Solenoid Valve for $259.50 and Fuel Level Sensor for $197.00. I refused service as this seemed extremely high and my fuel level seņor is working. I had an oil change and fuel filter change prior to my light going on and was wondering if this was a possible cause.
Also, can I purchase the purge control solenoid valve somewhere else and have a mechanic replace it. The dealership seems to just replace parts rather than diagnosing what is wrong, previously I had headlights, tailights and brake lights burning out every 2 months but the dealership said they couldn't find an electrical short and just keep replacing the bulbs.
