Is there a glue on the market that joins metal to pvc I need to connect a 50mm pvc pipe to a 60mm metal pipe I have a connector (pvc) that will connect perfectly its got thread but the 60mm metal pipe is plain on the inside I have tried silicone but it can not handle the pressure. I am connecting a pool pump to the system to pump water to a drum 3m up.
Can any one please tel me if there is a glue on the market that will do this for me or any suggestions?
Thanks niel

Your 50 MM PVC figures out to 2" PVC. However, the next pipe size up is 2 1/2" which is 63.5 MM. You do not glue PVC to metal you use threaded adapters to connect the two. Does the metal pipe have a male thread or a female coupling on the end? Let me know, Tom

Neilboshoff= what is metal pipe made of ?

Hey Chuck,
It doesn't make any difference what his pipe sizes are. He still can't glue PVC to galvanized pipe. I would say his PVC's 2" and the other's 2 1/2". Regards, tom

How about just getting a 2" X 2 1/2" fernco rubber adapter, tighten the bands and have a beer?

Great Idea Tiopcat,
I'm waiting for his response. For a pressured line I recommend threaded connections. For drainage I recommend a Fernco Shielded Coupling, (see image) I never install neoprene couplings under ground. Cheers, Tom

Hi Tom
These pipes are all abouve ground I have used some self tapper screws and silicone but some of the joints are still leaking.
What silicone would you sugest I use?
I have used a general purpose silicone and like I sead it still leaks from place to place.
This system gets powered by a 1500kw pool pump.
Kind Regards

The beer sounds good but in South Africa it is winter would rather stick to a sherry

Measure the inside diameter of the metal pipe again and let me know. I'm having difficulty finding fittings for a 60mm pipe.
Is this a suction or a pressure line? If it's a suction line everything must be air tight and I don't know if you're going to make it with glue . Regards. Tom

Thank you for your trouble

The best I can come up with is a 3 X 2" Fernco Reducing Coupling # 1056-32,(see image) You might be able to crank down on the 3" clamp to fit the 66mm pipe. Good luck, Tom
