Today's Gospel (Mt 13:31-35): Jesus put another parable before them, «The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, that a man took and sowed in his field. It is smaller than all other seeds, but once it has fully grown, it is bigger than any garden plant; like a tree, the birds come and rest in its branches».

He told them another parable, «The kingdom of heaven is like the yeast that a woman took and buried in three measures of flour until the whole mass of dough began to rise». Jesus taught all this to the crowds by means of parables; He did not say anything to them without using a parable. So what the Prophet had said was fulfilled: ‘I will speak in parables. I will proclaim things kept secret since the beginning of the world’.

Does what Jesus said tell us that the kingdom of God starts as quite small and grows to be quite large?
What does this lesson tell you?

N0help4,
Thank you for that.
I agree that "patience, perseverance, faith, hope eventually makes you strong", but I did not see that in that particular Bible passage.
Peace and kindness,

Today's Gospel (Mt 13:31-35) «The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, ==heaven is a concept in our head and heart that we don't see the reality of but believe just like it takes faith to believe the tiniest seed will one day grow into the biggest tree

that a man took and sowed in his field. ==sowing the word for the kingdom

It is smaller than all other seeds, ==so it has to be strong and endure time
but once it has fully grown, it is bigger than any garden plant; like a tree, the birds come and rest in its branches».

The mustard seed goes from a tiny seed to something really big like the mustard seed our faith takes time, patience, perserverance, hope and faith from the moment that faith is planted in our hearts to the time we actually see the kingdom of God.

Same with the yeast. We tell others of the kingdom of God and live by example and through the years we may not know what affect/impact we are having on others accepting God. But through time, faith, hope, patience and perserverance our works pay off in the end.
