View Full Version : Can't Get Car To Start

I have a '94 Honda civic sedan 5-speed manual. Not too long ago my car became difficult to start. It only would start when it is push-started. Well I happened to run out of gas one day, and it never turned over again. My car still has power, the starter is good, the battery is new. Someone suggested the ignition switch may have gone bad, not sure. Any other possibilities?

Alternator perhaps? When my ignition in my Saturn went out I had to replace both.

. Remove and fully charge the battery. Clean battery terminals and cable connections.
. Check the alternator, if the battery was low. Most auto parts stores will do this for free.

. Ensure gas tank has enough fuel in it. Then, turn ignition switch to ON and wait until the fuel pump stops running. Repeat this process four times. This will fully pressurize the fuel rail with gas, which is necessary for it to start.
