I have an adult male cat who refuses to use the litter box. He is three years old and has always used the litter box only when he feels like it. However, lately he wont use it at all. He does know how to use it because I have seen him do it before. I have tried getting a second litter box and changing them both daily. He always goes to the bathroom on the kitchen floor, which is the room the litter box is located. He goes on the floor several times a day. I do have two other cats that both use the litter box fine. He is fixed as well. I would hate to get rid of him, but I have a child and it is completely unsanitary to keep a cat in the house that wont stop peeing and pooping in the floor. Any ideas on how to get him to stop?

Have you tried changing the litter? Perhaps he doesn't like it?

Or get another box since the 3 of them are sharing, he may not like it.

Also, forgot to ask, are your other cats females? If they are, your male cat may not want to use the box where their urine marks are.

Have you considered taking him to the Vet to get checked out. The underlining reason may have absolutely nothing to do with how many times you clean the litter, or what type is used but your cat could be going outside the litter box in an attempt to urinate without pain. But could be attributed to a serious medical issue like Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease.

If it is painful for your cat to urinate he may be associating it with the litter box and thus going out of it in attempt to get relief. Something like this untreated not only hurts your cat but could become life threatening.

When a cat changes their daily or normal routine it's always best to get an appointment with your vet, because unlike us they cannot tell us when they are don't feel good.

You are very right hazeltine, but he should definitely try simple solutions before paying for a vet visit. Money is tight at this time for most people and vets are not cheap.
