Hello.. My question is, I have credit card debt that equals approx. $17,000 spread over 3 cards (Am ex. Chase, Barclays bank) I have had to live off these due to situations with economy and now I can't pay them. It's either I feed my family or I pay them! I live in WA state. I have heard lots of talk about the new laws but I don't know what is true. One thing I heard is if you don't pay for six months, the credit card companies have to wipe the debt off. I just want to know what the laws are for these companies and the laws for my state. Thank you for your time:)

You owe the cards until the Statute runs (which in WA is 6 years).

Do you honestly think that if you don't pay for 6 months the credit card companies are just going to forgive the balances and the rest of us who do pay our credit card bills are going to absorb the loss to the credit card companies?

No, there is no such law anywhere.

If the SOL is 6 years, chances are, after a few months, the credit card companies will go after you with a collections agency.
