Check the monitor cord and see if it's loose. You should be able to re-orient the monitor in the control panel. Auto-pivot might have been activated accidentally by line nose.. Only a guess.

Vista, CTRL, Alt, and up or down, and even left or right,
And on XP, right click your Desktop, click Graphics Options, select rotation, 90, 180, 270.
