HI there,

So I am having an issue. I think I might have some sort of sleep disorder, and it's beginning to affect my relationship. When he wakes me up I yell at him, cuss at him, and call him names. Then I ACTUALLY wake up, and I don't remember ANY of this. What's wrong? This has never happened before. And I obviously don't act like this when I'm awake. I love him with all my heart, and I don't want to lose him because I verbally abuse him in my sleep. Please don't laugh, it sounds funnier than it really is. I'm scared, is there something wrong with me?

I'm not currently on any meds (except birth control).
My sleep patterns haven't changed durastically.
There's nothing that stressing me out (other than $, but what's new).

I just don't get it. Please help me. I won't have health insurance for another 3 months, so there's no way that I can go to the doctor quite yet. I'm just wondering if anyone has heard of this or can shine some light on the situation.

I can't say for sure if it's a sleep disorder, but one of my best friends, Laura, she beats people up in her sleep. No joke. First time I met her when I was in the 8th grade at a sleepover, she kicked me repeatedly, pulled my hair, and scratched me with her Catwoman nails. >.>

She sleeps just fine and doesn't seem to be aware she's doing it either, until she sees someone has a nosebleed or something.

She doesn't do it on purpose, but daaanng.

Anyway, just letting you know you're not alone. Has your boyfriend told you it's affecting your relationship to the point he would leave or something? I'm sure explaining it would ease his mind. We all do weird things in our sleep. He should understand that it's not personal.

If I can take a butt-whoopin' from my best friend, he can take a few verbally abusive phrases!

Have you tried NyQuil or anything like that?

I used to walk in my sleep when I was a child. Haven't done that in 15 or so years.

He does understand, but I understand his dislike for being called every name in the book first thing in the morning for no reason.

He's not said its affected our relationship, but I can see that it has.

I just want a solution. I haven't tried Nyquil. There's really no point in doing that unless I know there's a possibility of it working.

Besides stress, sometimes foods we eat before we go to bed cause talking or other such things, like too much caffeine or something similar. What I meant to say about the NyQuil is sometimes it causes sleeping irregularities, too, so that's why I asked.

I'm glad your boyfriend hasn't said anything like that.

Hmmm. I'm sorry I can't be of more help. :( At least you're not beating him up yet, right? I'm sorry I'm useless. o_o

You're not useless, you are trying to help. And thank you. I just need an answer. It's really annoying. I doubt it's the food thing because it's been happening a lot lately... and by lately I mean the last year.
