Hi!

How does a person get low motabolism (I think I spelled that right :o)? And if it is low, is there any way to make it high?

Metabolism is a set of processes occurring in your body. It gets low when you are at rest, that is when you are sleeping. That's the lowest it can go (except if you are in coma, etc).

Metabolism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metabolism)

Just get up and do some exercise and your rate of metabolism will rise. Digestion increases metabolism.

Hope it helped! :)

Oh OK. Thanks. I only asked because I'm a thin woman. I eat A lot lol and a lot of people wonder how I can eat so much and not gain any weight. Some of them say that I just have low metabolism

I'm sure there are a lot of other factors, but eating irregularly and at odd hours will lower the metabolism. Also, regular exercise coupled with a regular diet at regular hours :) will bring your metabolism up.

My case, too. I eat like a vacuum cleaner, and never get fat.

They may be saying that in the way that your body doesn't digest the whole food...

But then, how thin are you? If you are in the good range, that's wonderful! Be careful not to abuse of oily things though. Being thin or fat doesn't change your risk of illness.

You perhaps have a good healthy diet, with plenty of fibres. If so, that's good and keep it up! :)

How does eating lower your metabolism?

Not simply eating, but eating irregularly. Your body cannot adjust to a fixed time for digestion and will therefore take a little longer for digestion to occur.

That doesn't make you gain weight?
