If it was their trailer they can charge you to return it to their yard in their home state. Even though you were told to "drop it off" you should have returned it to their home yard to be sure they "got" the trailer back. Most times a company will take the trailer back at a satellite yard, but a lot of companies want their trailer at their home yard for safety and insurance purposes and also to ensure no damage to the trailer. By dropping it off anywhere else the trailer could be damaged by someone else and you could be charged for the damages that you didn't do.

Write them a letter detailing just how much money they owe you and why they owe it to you. Such as unpaid trips, etc. and send it Certified Return Receipt at the post office and get the receipt stamped there. Keep sending the letter to them until they respond detailing just what is owed to you and what is deducted by them.
