I believe drkpp was telling you how to say "tea" in Sanskrit.

I found something different (चाय) but I'd go with what drkpp says, he's more experienced and knowledgeable with this than I am.

However, in the thread where you learned of the different ways to pronounce/write it, I believe it was a very accurate explanation. (But, what do I know?)

I think where you are being confused is that, in Sanskrit, it's not like they use the same 26 letters as us, they have their own alphabet. He was just telling you the different ways they make the t-sound. You can't translate one letter at a time and expect to spell something coherent. (Again, not 100% positive) Unless, you are not trying to just make it sound like "sattya" instead of mean that.

PS: Do you mean "satya" or "sattya" because you keep switching back and forth between how you spell it in your posts. (I went with the double "t" above because that is how it is spelled in your SN)

Hard t as in tiger is written as ट
Soft t like in turkestan is written as त
The correct spelling is satya = सत्य

Thanks for your posts. Actually with our alphabet, I like the spelling SATTYA but in sanskrit I love the writing with the T written this way: त but I don t know if it s a big mistake or if I could do this. I named my newborn son SATTYA and want his name tattooed on me like for my first japanese son. I know better Kanji than sankrit though. Is that OK if I write the name in sanskrit that way? (see the attachment)
