I'm on H-4 visa and I participated in an online contest for instant prize but I won the first prize worth $3000.The Sponsor will send me the Tax form before the prize.my question is.. Is it legal to participate and win on H-4 visa?

Are you sure you won? This sounds like a scam to me. They send you a tax form and ask you to pay them the taxes first. You send them a check or a money order for $600 but you never see a dime of the $3000.00!

I asked in both the categories because I didn't know where it actually belong. The company and the contest are legit .They are not asking me to pay the taxes but just sending me the tax form.but Is it legal because I'm not earning anything thriugh employment and they are sending me the products worth that amount.

Winning a monetary prize is not employment in the U.S.
