Ok, here are the details:
23 YO ranch style house, with laundry in unfinished portion of the basement. My washer/dryer are hooked up, and I would like a utility tub/sink down there next to the w/d.
There is already a second set of hookups for the h/c water where the washer is hooked up, so the water source is ready to go.
Unforuntately the only drain pipe I can see within a reasonable distance is the standpipe for the washer.
I've tried to research on this site and many others, and cannot get a solid enough answer.
Is it OK for me to cut the standpipe, fit a W connection and let the sink drain into the standpipe? I've seen that I should not have a p-trap on the sink, as this could create a double p-trap with the washer. It also looks like I must keep the original height of the standpipe when I fit the Y.
The standpipe is all by itself, and goes into the foundation, I'm not sure where it goes from there.
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
