I am 11 years old and I have a few questions
Is hitting a teenager or preteen with a belt abusive?
My step dad can sometimes be childish, I say that because when he knows he's not right about something and me and my sister show him he's wrong he gets angry. He is a pastor and I am very shoked because he gets mad for very little things he asked my sister if she wanted to die. What should I do? I'm only 11.:(

Please please go and read the NSPPC Website
What he is doing is very very wrong and you must seek help you are far to young to be able to deal with this ALONE

How hard is he hitting ?
I don't agree with using a belt, but parents and schools used paddles for years. I know 100's of parents personally that used them with no negative results when done more lightly. Again not my personal choice,
What are the actions of the teen to cause this to be needed.

I guess by coming here to seek advice it is more than a normal ticking off ?
I personally do not agree with any form of physical punishment towards and a child.

It sounds like he is taking his anger out on you and your sister with a belt.
He does sound childish if he beats you for pointing out where he is wrong.
Sometimes it is better to just let people be wrong than to butt heads with them.
I know that doesn't seem right but some people you are just better off letting it be that way.
Can you talk to your mother about it?

My parents used the belt on my behind and I turned out the better for it.
It depends on HOW he is doing it, and WHY he is doing it.
And I agree with nohelp4u. If he is 'spanking/hitting' you simply because you corrected him, it sounds to me like he has an anger issue and is overstepping the bounds of simple discapline and you need to talk to your teacher, or counselor or doctor about this.

This sounds like a serious issue. This is abuse and it is illegal.
You need professional help, get out of the situation while you can. There are people that you can talk to, best place to start is at school. Talk to a teacher or counselor, they can give you the kind of aid you need.
